Rare varieties of tomatoes boast a truly sweet taste. Black Cherry, also known as Black Cherry or Black Cherry, is a tomato whose fruit not only looks like chocolate candy, but can also replace dessert.

The variety was created by US breeders in 2003. The variety was registered in the state register of Russia in 2009. Let's get acquainted with a detailed description of the Black Cherry tomato. In our article we will tell you about its main characteristics and cultivation features.

Black Cherry tomatoes: variety description

The indeterminate variety of Black Cherry tomatoes is a tall species for growing in open ground and greenhouses. The powerful plant looks like a vine covered with dense clusters of fruits.

Fruiting in this variety begins within 112-120 days from the moment the first seedlings appear (mid-early). Possesses medium resistance to cladosporium and tomato wilting. Subject to agricultural technology, one plant can produce at least 5 kg of leveled marketable fruits.... The main advantage of the Black Cherry variety is the unusually sweet taste of the fruits and their attractive appearance. The disadvantages of the variety are the need for constant formation of the bush and the susceptibility of fruits to cracking at the time of ripening.

The peculiarity of the variety is the plant's increased demand for light, heat and nutrients. Due to the great strength of growth and the abundance of constantly set and ripening fruits, it needs almost daily inspection and additional tying. Cherry Tomatoes Black is the only variety whose side shoots are thicker than the central one. It is on them that the bulk of the crop is formed.

The skin on the fruits is thin and very tender, the pulp is medium-dense, dark purple or bluish-green (depending on the stage of maturity). There are 2 or 3 seed chambers, the dry matter content in the pulp is average (about 4-5%). Fruits are collected in bunches of 5-9 pieces.

The taste of Black Cherry tomatoes is their main advantage... Sweet and very aromatic, they resemble candy. Unfortunately, the fruits of this variety cannot be kept fresh. Tomatoes of the Black Cherry variety are good in marinades as a solo vegetable, and in a mixture with other vegetable crops. It is also used to prepare salads from fresh vegetables or fruits (usually as a decoration or to add a spicy note to them).

Unlike other tomatoes, Black Cherry is not recommended to be pinned... To get a good harvest, you should tie the bushes to the trellises, placing all the stepsons in one plane. On each of them, you can leave no more than 3 fruit brushes.

Due to the power of the bush and the abundance of fruits, cherry tomato black cherry needs frequent watering and feeding with organic and mineral fertilizers. The tomato has a normal resistance to cold snaps and other unfavorable climatic phenomena. It can be grown both in central Russia and Siberia (in the presence of temporary or permanent shelters - greenhouses), and in the southern regions (in open ground).

Diseases and pests

Tomato variety Black Cherry can be affected by any fungal and viral diseases characteristic of tomatoes... To avoid this, it is recommended to regularly air the plantings, remove diseased parts from the bushes and treat them with Fitosporin.

In greenhouse culture, the tomato is affected by whiteflies and aphids, in the open field - by spider mites. To combat these pests, use the complex insecticide Fufanon and folk remedies in the form of herbal bitter infusions of sticky traps.
