Increasingly, experienced gardeners are feeding tomato and pepper seedlings with yeast.
Rich in various microelements, yeast has a positive effect on cultivated plants, increasing their immunity.
The topic of today's article is feeding tomato and pepper seedlings with folk remedies: yeast, manure, bird droppings.
The action of yeast fertilizers
Yeast belongs to the sources of natural bacteria, they are based on special fungi high in organic iron, proteins and amino acids... Pepper seedling yeast has a positive effect on:
- seedling hardiness in adverse conditions with low light;
- seedling growth and its vegetative mass;
- root development;
- plant immunity and saturation with essential vitamins.
All these positive changes appear due to the restructuring of the soil composition after feeding the pepper seedlings with yeast. The product is based on unicellular bacteria, which actively reproduce in favorable warm conditions, processing organic matter around the culture.
The result is phosphorus and nitrogen formation, as well as a noticeable improvement in soil composition due to the development of soil organisms that increase fertility.
The disadvantage of feeding with yeast solution is the decomposition of potassium during fermentation. This problem is solved by introducing an infusion of wood ash, which is carried out in parallel with watering with yeast.
ATTENTION! Warmth is a favorable environment for yeast, therefore, fertilization of pepper seedlings should be carried out only in warm weather.
Due to the enrichment of the soil, pepper seedlings picking is well tolerated, and adaptation takes place in the open field.
Yeast fertilizer is needed spend a few days after transplant, which will enhance plant growth and development of the root system. To achieve a noticeable result, it is necessary to feed according to all the rules.
Yeast fertilization instructions
The first yeast feeding of pepper seedlings is applied 5-7 days after transplanting to a permanent place in a greenhouse or open ground.
It is important to wait for good rooting of the seedlings.... Enriching the soil with yeast-based fertilizers activates plant growth and gives them the opportunity to adapt to a new place.
The second feeding is done before the flowering of the pepper, in order to saturate the future fruits with the necessary vitamins. The fertilizer recipe that was used for the first feeding cannot be changed.
It is important to keep exactly the composition of the ingredients that were used previously., while changing the amount of the mixture introduced under the root. For the first fertilization of young plants, 0.5 liters of yeast solution is enough, the second procedure will require about 2 liters.
ATTENTION! When preparing fertilizer for seedlings, it is not recommended to combine yeast with manure or poultry droppings - the former will minimize the effectiveness of the product.
For seedlings of peppers, these two procedures per season are enough to get impressive results. A similar effect can be obtained if you water the pepper with beer, but the option with baker's yeast is more economical.
Preparation of yeast solution
It takes a little time and a minimum of ingredients to prepare an effective yeast fertilizer. The composition can include both a dry form and a live product.
If this ingredient is not at hand, it can be replaced with bread, breadcrumbs or other flour products, with the help of which a good nutritional agent will turn out.
The classic yeast solution recipe includes 1 kg of live yeast and 5 l of water... After diluting the ingredient in water, the product cannot be used in a concentrated form, it must be diluted again with water in a ratio of 1 to 10.
If applicable dry yeast, then 10 g are diluted in 10 liters of water with the addition of two tablespoons of sugar... After preparation, the solution should be infused for some time, and then it must be diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 5.
Fermented yeast solution noticeably improves the growth and development of peppers, for the manufacture of which half a glass of sugar and 100 g of yeast are dissolved in 3 liters of water.
The resulting mixture must be covered with a cloth and allowed to brew for 5-7 days, after which the product is diluted with water at the rate of 1 glass per 10 liters. The dosage is a liter for each plant.
ATTENTION! It is not recommended to increase the dosage and get carried away with feeding pepper seedlings. This can negatively affect the harvest.
Often gardeners resort to a recipe for yeast fertilizer with chicken droppings and wood ash. To prepare it you will need:
- 10 g dry yeast;
- 10 liters of water;
- 5 tablespoons of sugar;
- 0.5 l of wood ash;
- 0.5 l of poultry droppings.
The resulting mixture must not be used in concentrated form.... It must be diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 10.
Water the pepper with the resulting fertilizer carefully, without pouring it under the root. Because the composition contains bird droppings, it will be enough to slightly moisten the ground around the plant.
Preparation of natural yeast solutions
In addition to solutions based on ready-made yeast, fermented starter cultures can be used to enrich the soil. This process implies the rapid development of unicellular bacteria, which significantly stimulate plants.
ATTENTION! More often than others, a sourdough from wheat, hop cones and a bread and yeast solution are used to enrich the soil.
To make a sourdough from wheat, the grain mill must be soaked and wait about a day for their germination. Wheatgrass should be crushed to a mushy state, 2 lodges of sugar and 2 tablespoons of flour are added to them.
It is recommended to first keep the resulting mixture on low heat for 25 minutes, and then put it to sour for a day in the heat until signs of fermentation appear. Solution before use, it must be stirred with water in a volume of 10 liters.
Bread and yeast solution is very popular among gardeners, which is prepared from bread crusts, a pack of yeast, sour milk, a glass of wood ash and candied jam.
All ingredients are placed in a 10 liter container, filled with hot water and sent to the heat for fermentation for a week.
Hop sourdough consists of:
- dried or fresh hop cones (1 cup);
- flour (4 tablespoons);
- sugar (2 tablespoons);
- potatoes (2 pcs.).
The cones are boiled for an hour, after which the broth must be filtered, mixed with flour and sugar and placed in a warm place for 2 days.
After that, 2 grated potatoes are added to the mixture and kept for another day. To fertilize peppers seedlings, the sourdough is used in the proportion of a glass of the product for 10 liters of water.
Fertilizers with a yeast base and solutions obtained by the fermentation method are living biological growth stimulants. The results of feeding with pepper yeast will become noticeable after a few days. The bushes will grow in size, and the leaves of the plants will become juicy and strong.
